SEO mistakes that you should avoid


through WordPress themes.
So the first one I have for you

is building links


and they're like oh my god, this works.
Some people are still doing them,


Whether it's through WordPress themes,

Or anything like that.
it's through widgets, it's

through like those little

stack counter badges.


See, back in the day, I
Google for the term web hosting.

had a web hosting website.

I never provided web hosting,

but, I ranked number one on


commissions for HotGator,
That's one of the most competitive terms.

Everyone's going after it

because they want affiliate


bluehost, GoDaddy.

and then I bought a ton
You name it.

And the way I ranked really high was,

I bought a domain that had hosting in it,

or the term web hosting,


popular WordPress themes
of WordPress themes.

Instead of creating my own themes

and putting the link at the bottom,

I just found all the


that are already out

themes that cost no money.
there and that existed,

and I bought the themes,

right not just from the person

for like $50.

I'm talking about these free


So let's say the creator

for $10,000 and the whole
of one of the themes

would be David Zayne.

I would hit up David and

be like hey you created

an awesome theme,

I'm just gonna buy the

whole theme from you


And I'm not gonna give up the URL
business and the site.

And I'm gonna switch the bottom to say

theme created by David Zayne

to team created by, let's say,

Neil Patel's web hosting site.


most popular WordPress themes
but it was web hosting something, right?

You can fill in the blank.

And by doing that, I was building hundreds

and thousands of links right away

cause I was buying all the


out there and sites.

Google eventually banned by website.
Within six months I shot

off to the page of Google

for the term web hosting.

Within another three months,

I shot up to the first spot.

And you know what happened?


When I was ranking number one,

was generating was huge
I was generating over a $100,000 a month

in affiliate income.

That was great.

I didn't even spend more than $50,000

buying a ton of theme sites

and I did that over a

period of six months.

So the income that I


it was my site and they
compared to my investment.

But I got banned.

And they only banned me, and funny enough,

number two and number three

were using the same tactic

but Google didn't ban them.

And I think it was because

people eventually found out


maybe battlefield bypass

nonetheless, I learned,

don't do shady link affiliate tactics.

The second strategy I have for

you is expired domain names.

There was a domain name that

was named after a park one day.

It was battlefield something,


so I'll tell you all about it.
or whatever it is.

And I bought this expired domain name,

cause it was about like

the civil war in America

and it had all these edu links.

And I did something really

creative and interesting.

And I'm no longer in this space,


You're talking about a
So with this battlefield bypass site,

what I ended up doing is I

took the expired domain name,

put up casino related content,

and then I built a few

links here and there,

but all I did was just a

take really old domain name

that had a ton of authority.

over $10,000 that was expired

and people were like, oh my god,

this thing has a high Google paid rank,

and back then that

mattered, now it doesn't.

I switched it all to casino related stuff,

and then boom, I popped

up in the top three spots
to do a lot of this stuff
for the key term online casino and casino.

That's crazy, right?

Eventually Google figure it out,

got banned, lost all my money,

but when I was at the

top, I was making, again,

six figures in affiliate income

each and every single month.

If you notice a trend I used


back in the day when I was a kid.

is put all this time and energy like I did
I stopped really doing

this kind of stuff now

because it's not long run.

And if you're not sure

if you're SEO strategy

that you're using is gonna get you banned

or if it's for the long

run, leave a comment,

and I'll tell you if

you be doing more of it,

or less of it.

Cause the last thing you wanna do


but more so just drastically
and then get banned.

Think long term.

The last strategy I have for you

that eventually will end

up getting you banned

or penalized, or just crush your rankings,

is writing the same content

over and over again.

See, a lot of you guys have blogs.

And what you're doing with your blogs,

and this will really get you banned,

you can be like, what is all

these Google updates happening?

Why is my traffic keep going down?

And I used to be a victim of it myself.

After awhile, you run

out of topics to produce.

So you just regurgitate the

same stuff over and over again.

And I'll write articles like

tools, social media tools,
The top ten free Google

tools that every SEO

should be using.

The top ten SEO tools for 2018.

And then I would even have older ones,

the top ten marketing tools for 2017.

And then 2016.

And I did this to each

and every single year,

and I just regurgitated this information

over and over again.

Did it for SEO tools, marketing


Delete the old ones that
and there was so much

overlap in the content.

What ends up happening

when you have two articles

or three articles that are

on the same exact topic?

How does Google know which one to rank?

They don't.

Instead, what you should be doing

is updating your old content

and changing it to 2017

to 2018 and making the

tools more thorough.

And by doing that, Google's like,

oh cool, you're updating your old content.

We should keep ranking

it higher and higher

cause it's fresh.

They don't wanna rank old

content that's outdated.

I just recently bought a blog

for half a million bucks.

And this blog was like,

oh some months we get 1.2

million unique visitors,


What you'll find it, your
And like it's all seasonality.

It's not seasonality.

It's because they have the same content

that's regurgitated over and over again

and they have a lot of outdated content

that talks about tools like FeedBurner,

which no marketers use anymore.

You delete all of that stuff,

and you prune the content,

and you update the old stuff.


traffic won't just go up,

that just sucks and no
but it will be way more consistent.

So in your blog you probably

already have regurgitated

content, combined, the less powerful one,

so go into your Google Analytics,

look at the one that gets the

least amount of search topic,

and redirect it to the other one.

Combine the content,

make it more thorough,

you have less duplicate content,

and take all your old content

And redirect it to the most relevant post.

When you do that, you're

gonna get way more traffic,

you're not gonna get penalized,

and it's gonna continually

But in the long run when you measure it,

Think long term, and

don't do short term tricks

you will have longevity.

It's about longevity.

all that you need to do is find someone

say the best types of companies to

partner with here are ones that I

already have a nationwide network so

although they'll probably buy the leads

from you a little bit cheaper than what

you could get otherwise

it's nice because you can provide leads

nationwide and they'll buy them you know

ten twenty thirty dollars per lead and

then they disperse them which is a great

way to do it in order to find these

my audience but I am also going to

market a sponsored and Google has a

little tag for you to do this but you

say I'm going to market is sponsored and

that way that individual knows yes look

at a backlink but it will be marked as

sponsored so you know as long as they're

contacting you for the right reasons to

you know advertise to your audience this


that's an extra thousand dollars a month
guys I want to say one more time if

out number six is to create a membership

program and this is pretty

self-explanatory but basic

you create some type of membership group

that people can be a part of and ask

them to pay some amount of money to do

which isn't crazy and the beauty of this

type of affiliate review type post on
one is you don't have to have a ton of

people visiting your website in order to

do it you just need to have a close-knit

community on a small niche website and

if you're able to create this type of

community and charge them ten bucks a

month to do it then they're able to pay

that and you're getting a recurring

income which is a great thing and number

seven you guys and this really is the

best for last

that is to sell products via Amazon FBA

now let me explain this a little further

the idea here is that you write some

list your own product at the top of the

then do is you would actually get that

post and if you got it ranked and

is that you don't necessarily need a

huge website to make money with these a

lot of these will work in really small

niche websites and once you do this

Wha is SEO How SEO work And How To Do It

What is SEO ?

How does Google determine which website to
rank number one, two and three.

It comes down to SEO, right?

Well, it's more in depth than that.

Google has over 200 factors; and the number
one factor that affects rankings is backlinks.

Today, I'm going to teach you what backlinks
are and how they work.

Moz SEO company interviewed tons of marketing
experts, and they asked them what factors

affect Google's rankings the most?

They all said backlinks.

So, with backlinks, that's one website linking
to another website.

Google's looking at it as votes.

The more links that your website has, the
higher you're gonna rank.

In addition to that, they're looking at quality.

So, if Huffington Post links to you, that's
way more effective than if Joe the plumber

linked to you.

And Google knows that it's way harder to get
a link from Huffington Post than it is to

get a link from Joe the plumber.

Now, another thing that they're using within
their algorithm is how related is that link?

So, if Huffington Post links to your plumbing
website, that's actually not as effective

compared to Joe the plumber linking to you.

But, on the flip side, if Home Depot linked
to you, because it's very relevant and they're

within your space, that's way more effective
than if Joe the plumber linked to you.

So, a few things.

Google is looking at how many backlinks you're
getting; how many you're getting over time

because it has to be natural, they don't want
you to just go pay people to link to your

website because they don't like that, you
shouldn't pay for links; they're looking at

how related those websites are; and they're
looking at something called domain authority,

that's how authoritative that website is.

So, assume you're getting tons of backlinks,
you're getting them from related websites

and they have high domain authority.

A domain authority is from a scale of 0 to
100, 100 being like a Google.com, a Youtube,

a Facebook.

And it works like on a Richter scale, right?

A logarithmic scale, in which it's way easier
to go from 1 to 10, than it is to go from

10 to 20.

So, if you can get a lot of backlinks, you
can get them from relevant sites, and you

can get them from authoritative sites that
have high domain authority, your rankings

are gonna climb.

If you're wondering what domain authority
is, like what number a certain site has, you

can go to ahrefs.com, A-H-R-E-F-S dot com,
put in a URL and they'll spit out the domain

authority.

It's a paid tool.

Why SEO Important ?
A free version of this is Open Site Explorer.

If you Google 'Open Site Explorer', it'll
take you to moz.com, and you can put in a

URL and it'll tell you that site's domain
authority.

Now that you know how links work in the eyes
of Google, if you want to get links the quickest

way is to do round up posts.

So, go and email every single expert within
your space.

And I've discussed this in one of my past
videos, you can go into the description, click

on the link and you can get to the past videos
where I talk about round up posts.

You can email these people, include them in
their round up posts; and since you're asking

them one question and you're asking that same
question to every expert within the space,

it's a great opportunity for them to get free
press, which is why they're gonna participate.

And then once they all participate, and give
you their response, write an amazing looking

blog post showcasing all the responses, include
their name, link to their website, link to

their Twitter or Facebook profile.

And then from there, email each of those experts,
once you've published the post, and ask them

to share it on their favorite social network.

By doing this, your blog, your website, is
gonna get more traffic.

The more eyeballs that see your sight, the
higher probability that someone's gonna link

back to your site.

As you get more backlinks, your rankings will
also climb.

Today, you're going to learn what backlinks are, why

they're important, how you can check them for free,
Let's get started.

and how to get more backlinks to your site.


Backlinks are links from a page on one website
So what are backlinks?

article got a link from the Huffington Post.

This website is highly authoritative with a DR of 92.
And assuming topical relevance and everything
And let's say it got another link from a lesser known

site like KidsKingdom.ca, which has a DR of 17.

Based on the definition of Domain Rating,

it's fair to say that the Huffington Post

is a more "authoritative" domain.

But let's throw a little twist in here.

Let's say that the page from the DR 17 site

There are two places you can do this for free.

The first is Google Search Console

If you haven't already set up an account,

just go through the verification process

to prove that you own the site.

Then go to the Links report.
